Cape Hatteras Secondary School Library serves over 350 students in grades 6-12.  The library offers in-house and community-based programs supported through fundraising and grant initiatives. Program participants span seven grade levels, emphasizing social learning and mentorship.  Programs offered annually include the Boneyard Reading Challenge, Haunted Cape Film Festival, Cold Stun Sea Turtle Recovery, Winter Reads, Spelling Bee, Middle and High School Battle of the Books, National Junior Honor Society, NaNoWriMo, and Tales of Fright semester classes. .
